Alisa Louise Hodge, 46, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK. Alisa was born May 18, 1973 in Oklahoma City, OK to James Alfred Hodge and Angela Louise McCallister. First and foremost, Alisa was a mother to her four children. While she was great at many things, she valued this particular calling above all others, creating countless opportunities to show her love–from balloon birthdays to bedtime book reading. She valued traditions with family and friends, making pickle parties, dance parties, and slurpees into treasured memories. Alisa cared about women and families and she found great fulfillment in her work as a childbirth educator and doula. Most recently, she attended school to become a therapist. While the world will miss out on her wisdom, her friends and family will continue to be inspired by the way she lived her life.
Alisa lived a life of service and never passed an opportunity to connect with loved ones or to form new friendships. She cherished a hope in Jesus Christ, and cultivated a life of faith and gratitude. She found joy in big and small things, including her archery bow, kayaking, music, ripe raspberries, sunsets, and hidden smiley faces. Alisa was – and will continue to be – a light to all, encouraging us to have hope and joy as we carry on without her.
Alisa is the much loved mother of four children, Savanna Spear, Jack Spear, Luke Spear, and Tucker Spear. She is the loving daughter of Angela McCallister-Hodge and James Alfred Hodge; sister to Janelle Hodge, Jamey Hodge, and the late Jennifer Hodge Salyers. She is remembered by her cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and countless friends.
A celebration of her life was held Saturday, December 21, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Approximately 900 people gathered to sing Alisa’s favorite songs, support her family, and remember her remarkable life.
