Ashley Ann Whitlow
Ashley Ann Whitlow entered this world on March 9, 1986 and left for heaven on February 13, 2013, surrounded by many who love her. Ashley was raised in the OKC area and most recently lived in Paul's Valley, OK in the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center.
Ashley is survived by her parents, Ryan & Kristi Whitlow of OKC; her faithful sister, Leslie Gorham, brother in law Chad Gorham and her namesake niece, Hope Ashley Gorham, of Piedmont. She is also survived by her loving grandparents, Bob & Pat Mashburn of Lindsay, OK and Earl Whitlow of OKC. Also missing her dearly are cousins, aunts, uncles, care givers and a host of others who were touched in some way by having Ashley in their lives.
Ashley lived her life facing problems that even those of us who are closest to her cannot fully comprehend. She traveled this world without the use of physical ability and expressed herself without the use of voice. Yet, she still touched all those around her through the grace of her presence, her enthusiasm for fun and the love that radiated from the deepest parts of her soul through her beautiful brown eyes.
Ashley showed us all the magnificence that can be found in the smallest of things. The breeze in her hair, the sun in her face, a sneeze, an afternoon ride, and bumps in the road were all cause for her to celebrate. She took what she was given to work with and fought bravely, laughed fully, touched gently, and loved deeply. Over the years, many of us spent a lot of time praying that Ashley could be more like us. Perhaps, we should all pray that we can become more like her.
Lots of hands and hearts were involved in Ashley's life. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude and admiration to Lakepark Elementary, The Bethany Children's Center and the staff at the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center. Your love and compassion are incredible and you have been family to us. Ashley loved you all.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 8 PM Friday with services to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Spring Creek Cemetery.
