Brumley,
Barclay Joan Brumley, M. Ed., 64, of OKC went to be with our Lord on November 7, 2008 at home with her loving family around her. Barclay was born April 3, 1944 in Hutchinson, KS to Thurmon Adrian and Anna Jeanne Mayhew.
She was a member of the Mayflower Society. She attended Syracuse High School in Syracuse, KS. She graduated Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS with a Masters Degree in Education. On Sept. 1, 1966 she married the love of her life Flurr (Sonny) N. Brumley Jr. at Ft. Riley, KS and enjoyed 42 wonderful years of marriage.
She was known for her colorful spirit, tenacity, delicious foods and loved entertaining friends and family. She was recognized for numerous Federal awards for educational programs and won many cooking contests throughout the U.S.A. She retired as an Education Service Specialist of the Military Entrance Processing Station in OKC. In later years a highlight of her life was working as an Education Service Officer for The Oklahoma Military Department.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister. She is survived by her husband, U.S. Army CSM (Ret) Flurr N. Brumley Jr., son, 1SG Mark N. Brumley, wife Melisa, daughter Mynda Joan Brumley, grandchildren James Brumley, Matthew Dobbins, Jessica Brumley, Cayleigh Joan Brumley, Taylor Joan Harp and Cody Harp and great granddaughter, Sophia Ramsey-Brumley.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lisa and Vicki of Hospice of OK County for their special care.
Viewing will be from 2 pm to 8 pm. Tuesday, Nov. 11 with the family receiving visitors from 6 pm to 8 pm. Services are at 2 pm Wednesday, Nov. 12. Viewing and Services will be at Buchanan Funeral Service with Dr. Willie Means officiating. Burial will be at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials may be either floral arrangements or, because of Barclay's love for teaching and the importance of education, by a donation to Barclays Educational Scholarship Fund in Care of Chase Bank, 12200 N. Rockwell, OKC, OK, 73162.
