Mrs. Betty Jo Palmer Ward, a resident of Madill, Oklahoma City, Stillwater and Perkins, went home to be with our Lord Tuesday, November 8, 2022. She was 94 years old. Funeral Services for Mrs. Ward will be 10:00 AM Friday, November 11, 2022 in the main auditorium at Mayridge Baptist Church with Reverend Charles Melton officiating. Private interment in Madill, OK. will follow with Ray Buchanan of Buchanan Funeral Service directing. Mrs. Ward was born in Muleshoe, Texas Dec. 31, 1927 to the late Thomas Lester Palmer and Della Thomas Palmer. Mrs. Ward loved to sing and performed in high school. She went on to marry Jim Bolt and raise five children. She discovered her talent for painting and photography later in life. She was a member of the Madill Art Club. She also attended East Central University in Ada and Murray State College in Tishomingo. She met the love of her life and married Norman Marion Ward in Madill, Oklahoma on February 5, 1982. Mom and Norman loved to host family and friends in their home, and provide food (and water) for anyone that needed it. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; one son, J.B. Bolt; four sisters, Mildred Prewitt, Alene Dore, Bonnie Cofer, and Ronna Hall; and one brother, Thomas Palmer. She left behind four daughters, Linda Voges, Sherry Oliver, Dana Gammill, and Leslie Wilson; three stepsons, Curtis Ward, Kenneth Ward, and Larry Ward; and one stepdaughter, Barbara; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Dennis-Smith, Ginger Simon, Laurie Kinney, Beth Gammill Vassar, J.P. Wilson, Zach Gammill, and Sam Gammill. Ten great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive, as well as several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Salvation Army.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM at Mayridge Baptist Church on Friday, November 11th.

Due to Veterans Day, burial will be taking place early next week.
