Billy Gene Funk June 29, 1947 - December 12, 2016

Billy was born in Riverside, CA to Glenn William and Elnora Barlow Funk. He grew up in Riverside. "Bill" joined the US Army and served his country honorably. His service during the Vietnam War earned him the National Defense Service, Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster and the Bronze Star Medal. He served as a member of the 2nd Armored Division and 25th Infantry Division on multiple missions serving with distinction. He was medically retired with honors from the US Army as a specialist Fourth. Upon retiring from the army, he moved to Oklahoma and spent the rest of his life hunting, fishing and helping others. Bill never met a stranger and was known for helping others. He served as Worshipful Master, Uriah Lodge No. 277 in Wheatland, OK. Bill passed away on December 12, in Canadian Valley Integris Hospital after battling multiple illnesses. Bill is survived by 10 children: Todd Olsen, James Author, Jennifer Christen Funk, Delialah Funk, Charles Sherwood Funk, Christine York, David Paul Funk, Billy Gene Leach, Amanda Ruth Thomason and Cindy Lynn; 5 grandchildren, Tiberius Funk, Scotty Funk, Temperance Thomason, James Thomason III, and Sierra Funk and many friends. Graveside service to celebrate his life will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 22nd at Ft. Sill National Cemetery.
