Bruce Cox Ruby July 31, 1929 - February 4, 2014

Bruce Cox Ruby was born in Oklahoma City to Chester and Aline Ruby. Bruce was a brave warrior that went home on February 4, 2014.

After graduating from Central High School Bruce was offered a baseball contract to play professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals. Because he already had a good job with OG&E delivering electric bills on a bicycle his mother would not sign the contract. That began a long career spanning 43 years. While at OGE he met and married the love of his life Patricia "Patty" Winters and together celebrated 62 years of marriage. Bruce retired from OG&E in 1987 as the supervisor over computer programming. In retirement he loved playing golf with his buddies, traveling with family and friends and working in his wood shop. Bruce was a master wood crafter and loved making fine furniture for his family and is known for the over 300 birdhouses he made for family and friends. He spent many years positively impacting the lives of many whether as a supervisor, baseball coach, Cub Scout leader and community volunteer.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Aline Ruby, brothers Charles and Louis Ruby. Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Patty, son Mike Ruby and wife Pam, son Patrick Ruby and wife Nancy, daughter Kathy Haney and husband Roland, grandchildren Steve Ruby and wife Lacy, Nan Hargett and husband Josh, Katelyn Ruby, Cody Ruby and wife Kelsey, Kelly Long and husband Aaron, Jennifer Breedlove and husband Jeff, great-grandchildren Maggie and Rett Ruby, Micah and Zeke Hargett and Michael, Daniel and Elsie Long, numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.

A funeral service to commemorate Bruce's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Church of the Servant, 14343 N. MacArthur, and OKC. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Care Ministries at Church of the Servant.
