It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Byron Joel Jones, age 68, on July 8, 2024. Byron was the cherished only child of Paul Roland Jones and Winifred Dessie Jones. He was a beloved son, cousin, and friend, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Byron had a lifelong passion for genealogy and ancestry. He was known for his & gift of gab and loved to share stories of his family & history. Through his research, he discovered his grandfather’s full Choctaw heritage and was excited to learn of his own royal Scottish bloodline—a fact he took great pride in. For many years, Byron worked as a bookkeeper in property management, a job that suited his meticulous nature and strong sense of responsibility. When he wasn’t working, Byron enjoyed spending time with his beloved cats and connecting with family, including his cousins and second cousins, with whom he shared a deep bond. A devout Orthodox Christian, Byron was an active member of St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church in Oklahoma City. His faith was an important part of his life, and he found comfort and strength in the community of the church. Byron is survived by his cousins, second cousins, and many friends, all of whom will miss him deeply. He is now at peace, reunited with his parents and those who passed before him, leaving behind a legacy of love for his family and an enduring curiosity about his heritage.
A service to celebrate Byron’s life will be held on November 18, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Duncan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church or a local animal shelter in Byron’s memory.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
