David Shawn Wynn
November 1, 1962 – January 28, 2021
David Wynn was born on November 1, 1962 in Atlantic City, Iowa and went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 28, 2021 at the age of 58 after battling cancer.
David grew up in Checotah, Oklahoma and moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where he graduated from Broken Arrow High School. He attended Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Marketing Management degree. He worked in various roles throughout his life, including in the hospitality industry where he served as manager of both the Greystone Restaurant and the first restaurant in Oklahoma City’s Bricktown, Spaghetti Warehouse. He also used his talents and dynamic personality working in sales and home remodeling. His biggest passion, however, was inventing and entrepreneurship. He designed an electronic guitar tuning device and a waste management tool, both for which he received patents. He received local news attention and awards after manufacturing and selling the waste management tool, the Flip-a-do. You could always find him sketching designs on napkins or whatever he could write on for new inventions and business ideas he dreamed to one day bring to life.
David had many other passions, including art, music, woodworking, cooking and cars. He enjoyed writing and playing music on his guitar, drawing, and fixing up old classic cars. He and his son, James, enjoyed writing lyrics to songs and stories and playing music together. He loved helping with projects for his kids, including his son, Jon’s, boy scout Pinewood Derby cars, art class drawings and posters, and his kids’ Halloween costumes. He built many things for his family, and created many beautiful constructions including a custom-made play castle, covered wagon for his kids’ “land run” in elementary school, an elaborate tree house, and a float for his daughter, Jordyn’s, high school homecoming parade. He would never commit to doing anything without adding his personal touch to perfection.
David loved his family. He enjoyed making visits to see his dad in Checotah, Oklahoma, and always talked about their thought-provoking conversations. He adored the view from his mother’s back porch in Gore, Oklahoma, almost as much as he adored her cooking and company. He had many good times with his brothers, sharing his love of music with Steve and taking Ty under his wing from the day he was born. He loved his animals. He and his wife, Traci, would have adopted every animal that needed a home, if they could. Throughout his life, he had many beloved pets that were family. Traci was his devoted wife, caregiver and the love of his life. Most of all, he loved Jesus, and his faith in his Lord and Savior was unshakeable.
David is survived by his wife, Traci Wynn; his father, Leo Wynn; his mother, Wanda Wilson; his siblings, Steve Wynn (and wife, Vicki), Tyson Wynn; his daughter, Jordyn Wynn (and fiancé, Tim Krenz); his sons, Jonathan Wynn and James Wynn (and girlfriend, Bella); the mother of his children, Cara Cutter; his bonus children Taylor Schwerdtfeger (and wife, Jill), Wade Schwerdtfeger (and wife, Hayley), Sha Melvin (and husband, Matt), and their children Kaleb, Ali, Kodi, Matthew, Harper and Jaxyn. David is also survived by his beloved aunts, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
