Deborah was born in Columbus, Ohio and grew up in Newton, Iowa. She married the newly enlisted Robert Cook in 1972 and had 3 daughters, Melissia, Brandi, and Kristen. Debbie worked everywhere the Navy sent the couple in their twenty-three years of marriage. She held a multitude of positions from auto-part manufacturer, cashier, and Mary Kay consultant, to military Ombudsman, supporting families while their Sailors were at sea. Following the dissolution of her first marriage in 1995, she married Edward Irizarry in 1998. Deborah loved music. She loved singing in the car and was famous for waking the house while singing to Billy Joel or Michael Jackson when it was time to clean. Music was life to her soul. She loved her children and grandchildren fully and would make all their birthday cakes. She supported them in all they endeavored to do, whether it was chauffeuring them to Girl Scouts or showing up to band concerts and little league games. Debbie knew Jesus and was confident of her hope in him. Mom’s passion was spending time with her family, whether at the park, in the living room or at the beach, family was her center, her pride, and her joy.
Deborah was preceded in death by her mother, Mickey Carol Trogden; father, Larry Fleener; and her step father, Scotty Trogden. She is survived by her children, Melissia Dawn Flores (husband, Jose O. Flores), Brandi Lee Cook and Kristen LeeAnna Cook; step-children, Angela Irizarry-Blazquez (husband, Ricki Blazquez) and Aaron Irizarry; grandchildren, Tatiana Nicole Delk (husband, Jacob Delk), Emily Marie Cloyd (husband, Kolton Cloyd), Brendan Orlando Flores (wife, Isabella Flores), Kieona Lauren Cook, Leilani Michelle Robbins, Tahlia Jade Townsend (husband, Bryan Townsend), Ethan Alexander Fields and Liam Daniel Irizarry; great-grandchildren, Waylon River Delk, Piper Marie Delk, Foster Ryan Delk, John Isaiah Cloyd, Josie Marie Flores; siblings, Teresa Trogden, Sandra Ellis, Laurel Birdman, Jolene Watson, Larry Fleener and Robby Fleener; as well as many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
