Delores Rojean Rich, known to many as Rojean, was a woman of unwavering faith, boundless kindness, and a spirit of service that touched every life she encountered. Born on March 30, 1933, in Springer, Oklahoma, to Hudson and Leafy Howard, she was the third of four children and was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jack Howard, and her sisters Greta Dixon and Joan McCorkle.
Rojean’s early years were spent in Springer, where she grew up surrounded by family, faith, and community. After her father sold his general store, the family relocated to Oklahoma City, where she graduated from Central High School in 1950. A proud member of the “Black Skirts” pep club and an active Rainbow Girl, she was deeply involved in her school and church, values that would guide her throughout her life.
After high school, Rojean attended Oklahoma City University following her marriage to her high school sweetheart, Don Lacey, in 1950. The couple moved to California for Don’s naval assignments in Long Beach and San Diego before returning to Oklahoma City to start their family. Together, they had two children, Dona and Randy, before parting ways in 1958.
A dedicated professional, Rojean held several administrative roles before finding her calling in leadership at the aircraft registry division of the FAA. In 1969 H.E. Rich, a salesman would knock on her door and life changed forever. The two were married soon after and later welcomed two girls, Shannon and Heather. Her career flourished at the FAA, where she excelled in management, earning multiple commendations, communication awards and a career highlight of representing her division in Tokyo, Japan. She took immense pride in leading her team at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, retiring in 1994 after a distinguished career.
Beyond her professional success, Rojean found joy in lifelong friendships, particularly with her beloved FAA Bridge Club, a group that played together faithfully from 1963 through the early 2000s. But her true passion lay in serving others—especially through her church. Wherever she worshipped, she volunteered with enthusiasm, often recruiting her entire family to join in. After retirement, her heart turned toward children’s ministry.
At Memorial Christian Church, she founded the Children’s Worship & Wonder program, bringing an experiential learning approach to young worshippers. Her leadership in the program extended beyond her own church, as she became certified to train others, ensuring that countless children would experience faith in a meaningful way. It was no surprise that she was once named “Mother of the Year” by the children she mentored, a testament to her ability to make each child feel special and deeply loved.
Rojean’s greatest joy, however, was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service, survived by her children: Dona and Rodd Moesel, Randy and Pam Lacey, Shannon Rich and Kelly Kerr, and Heather and John Schumacher, and Mike Rich. She was a proud G-MA to Ashley, Austin, Hayden, Sydney, Cody, Teddy, Ella and Mia, and a cherished great-grandmother to Beckett and Charlotte. Her life was one of devotion—to her faith, her family, and her community. Rojean’s warmth, wisdom, and servant’s heart will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
