Dorothy Drennan Ukena passed peacefully on June 11, 2024 at the age of 87. Dorothy was born October 29,1936 to John C. Drennan and Telma Sledge (Hager). Her aunt, Jane Gordon played a prominent role in her life as she grew up. Dorothy graduated from Enid High School in 1954 where she met Bill Ukena. She attended Oklahoma University and Phillips University before marrying Bill in June of 1955. She loved staying home and raising their two children, Todd and Lynn. When her kids were older, she worked at the Garfield County Election Board for several years before their move to Ft. Worth. There, she worked at National Farm Life Insurance until her retirement and move to OKC in 1995. Dorothy’s family was, in her words “the light of my life”. She enjoyed reading and listening to music. She could play piano beautifully by ear and you knew her mood by what was being played. Being an avid OU fan, she was always eagerly awaiting football season. She was also a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in OKC.
Dorothy is survived by Bill of the home, son Todd Ukena and wife Mikela (Lubbock, Tx); daughter Lynn Lorenz and husband Jeff (Broken Arrow); grandchildren, Chris Lorenz (Noble OK); Mikela Bryant and husband Shane (Snyder, TX); Allie Schreier and husband Adam (OKC); two great grandchildren, Kendall Bryant and Arlo Schreier ; sister Mary Dickey and husband Dwight (Edmond), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by parents John C. Drennan and Telma Sledge, aunt, Jane Gordon, brothers J.C. Drennan and Jim Drennan.
A special thank you is extended to Concordia Skilled Nursing, Frontier Hospice, and Laura Lynn Home Care for their exceptional care for Dorothy and support of the family.
