Elizabeth Jane Rainey Taylor, 76, of Oklahoma City, OK was surrounded by family and friends when she went to join our Heavenly Father on October 11th, 2023.
Jane was born on November 8th, 1946 to Joe and Jasper Rainey in Henderson, TN. In 1963, Jane met Mike Taylor at Freed Hardeman College, and they enjoyed 56 years as husband and wife. Mike and Jane have two daughters, Becky Zajac and Cathy Earnest, as well as six grandchildren who were the stars in Jane’s eyes and lovingly called her Nanny.
Jane worked in Oklahoma City Public Schools for thirty-three years, where she has influenced an untold number of students and fellow faculty members. The last 20 years of her career were spent as a counselor at Emerson Alternative School, where she was blessed to serve so many students whom she was proud to help guide through high school graduation.
Jane loved to spend her time with her family and church friends. She lived her life non-stop taking care of those she loved, traveling, playing games, and driving around in her red convertible. She celebrated Christmas all year long, loved everything Disney, especially Tinkerbell, and was the most generous individual one could ever hope to meet.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Jasper Rainey. She is survived by her husband, Mike Taylor, her daughters and their spouses, Becky and Stephen Zajac and Cathy and Tom Earnest, and her six grandchildren and their spouses, Hunter and Becca Zajac, Joseph and Brailee Zajac, Copeland Zajac, Lucille Zajac, Landry Earnest and Casady Earnest. In addition to her direct relatives, Jane never met a stranger and has so many other loved ones she considered family.
A memorial service will be held at Edmond Church of Christ on Monday, October 16th, 2023 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to In Search of The Lord’s Way, an evangelistic television and radio ministry that was dear to her heart. Donations can be forwarded to PO Box 371, Edmond, OK 73083.
Services are provided by Buchanan Funeral Service.
