Flurr “Sonny” Nathaniel Brumley Jr September 3, 1944 - March 4, 2017

Sonny was born in Sheffield, AL to Gussie (Peebles) and Flurr N. Brumley, Sr.. and went to meet our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on March 4, 2017.He retired after 28 years of service in the U.S. Army as a DISCOM Command Sergeant Major (CSM). He served two tours in Vietnam and earned numerous medals, including the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 42 years, Barclay. He is survived by his son, Mark Brumley (Melisa); daughter, Mynda Brumley-Tharp (Joe); 6 grandchildren, James, Matthew, Jessica, Cayleigh, Taylor, Cody; and 1 Great-granddaughter, Sophia. Visitation will be Friday, March 10, 2017 from 1-8 pm with family to receive guests from 4-6 pm at Buchanan Funeral Service. Services to celebrate his life will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the chapel of Buchanan Funeral Service with burial to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
