Gareld (Jerry) Owen passed away peacefully in his home on July 8, 2024. He was born on December 29, 1932, to Gareld and Gertrude Owen of Joplin, MO.
Throughout his life Jerry worked as a welder and mechanic, demonstrating exceptional skill and a strong work ethic. His expertise and dedication made him a respected and valued member of his community.
Jerry also proudly served in two branches of the United States Armed Forces, the Navy and the Marine Corps, where he reached the ranks of 1st and 2nd Lieutenant and Captain.
He is survived by his sons Troy Owen, Brian (Lindsey) Owen their children, Conner (Sheyna), Macey, Kyle, Caden and Camden, Brett (Tara) Owen their children, Lily and Luke, Darin (Michelle) Owen and stepdaughter Jennifer Smith (Scott) and their children, Zach, Jaxon, and Warren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Owen and son Eric Dean Owen.
Jerry’s legacy is not only defined by his professional accomplishments but also by the love and care he extended to his family and friends. He was a devoted father whose warmth and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Buchanan Funeral Service on Thursday, August 1, 2024, 10 a.m. (8712 N. Council Rd, OKC, OK).
