Harold Lee Brewster was born November 16, 1943, on his mother’s birthday. Charles Edward Brewster and Maudie Lodemia Miller Brewster were the parents of sixteen children in Carnegie, Oklahoma. After the passing of his parents he enlisted in the Air Force. During his military tour he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. His last position was Loadmaster on the C130 turboprop airplane developed and built by Lockheed Martin. He flew in and out of Vietnam during the war and he participated in either air drop, supply or troop retrieval, medevac, and/or cargo transport missions. During his flights he would have a brief time to refresh while the plane was being refueled or reloaded. Harold would use this time to see various places that he never would have imagined seeing when he was younger. He left the service in 1968 due to severe injuries from a jet fuel explosion. This incident would have left him blind, scarred, and unable to function. He overcame through perseverance and prayer from his father-in-law, Carl, and family.
After the Air Force, Harold and his wife, Sherry, moved to Bethany, Oklahoma. He went to work for Western Electric and continued with the company for 30+ years until his retirement. He saw transformations due to the changes in company leadership from AT&T, Lucent, and Celestica and as the telephone sector evolved. Harold and Sherry had one child, Brent, in 1972. He was an active and devoted parent even though the marriage ended in a divorce.
Harold’s life changed when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior during a meeting at Crossroads in Oklahoma City. He continued to witness, pray for, and to be a useful vessel wherever he was; home, work, or church until he was called up to be with his Lord and Savior.
In December 1986, Harold married Vickie Smith at Faith Tabernacle in Oklahoma City. Vickie had a son named Trent so the four of them, including Brent, became a blended family. The family continued to attend Faith for years and to serve in leadership positions. Harold grew in his faith and was eager to share this with others through mission trips, building churches, and other activities. He enjoyed his three granddaughters: Kaytlin, Ashley, and Brooklyn. Harold (Papa) saw the girls grow up to be teenagers and he was an active grandfather.
In all, Harold lived a full life: he received his 80 years and was weeks shy of his 81st birthday – he passed away October 30, 2024. Harold saw his children and grandchildren; received healings; and so many other blessings. He will be missed, but he has gone on to a better place. We will miss you! Love, your family.
