Graveside Service: 10:00 AM, Friday, October 11, 2024, at Memorial Park Cemetery

Harold Nelson Johnson passed away Saturday October 5, 2024 holding the hands of his children.  He was born May 28, 1938 in Geary Oklahoma to Esther Crothers Johnson and Cleo Walter Johnson. He graduated from El Reno High School and attended college at Central State University.

Harold loved people and enjoyed talking to everyone he met.  He truly never met a stranger.  This outgoing personality suited him in the sales profession.  Through the years he was in sporting goods sales as well as oilfield sales.  His profession kept him on the road but also fed his love for travel which led him to many interesting places.  He and Mary loved to travel by car to see everything they could see, and stop when they wanted to stop all across the US, Canada and beyond. He was a big OU Sooner fan and Dallas Cowboy fan.  He was a loving husband, great friend and wonderful father, grandfather and most recently a proud GGPa.

Harold was preceeded in death by his parents and his wife of 57 years, Mary J. Johnson.  He is survived by his son Randell Wade Johnson, who has been his caregiver these past few years.  He is also survived by his daughter, Christy Bare and favorite son-in-law, David.  Grandchildren Christian Bare, Emily Bare Thompson and Daulton Johnson, his great grandchildren Nathaniel Johnson and Christopher Thompson.  Also surviving is his brother Jerry Johnson and many other family and friends, and his beloved cats JJ and Beano.

There will be a graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery at Memorial Road and Kelley at 10am Friday October 11, 2024. We will be to the left of the bell tower as you enter the cemetery.  If you are able to attend, the family asks that you wear your favorite college jersey, bright colors or red for the Sooners as he would want us to colorfully celebrate him and his life.  In Lieu of flowers, make a donation to the charity of your choice or to Disabled American Veterans or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.  Buchanan Funeral Home is in Charge of the service.
