Bob Horst-Detleff Lund was born on May 17, 1949 in Ebermannstadt, Germany to our mother Helene Block & was adopted on September 11, 1954 by our father Olaf Lund. Bob was the oldest of 7 children. Bob is survived by his remaining siblings Olaf (Ole) Lund Jr., Ronald (Ronnie) Lund, Diane (Deeny) Biggs, Dolly Depew & Ingrid (Ingee) Keller. Bob was preceded in death by his mother Helene Lund, his father Olaf Lund & his sister Marlinda (Lindy) McLane. Our brother Bob was unique in every way. His love for his telescope was not only fascinating, but it was also so interesting to see the planets and stars. He loved to share the night sky with those who were interested. We often all wondered if Bob believed in martians and if he ever got to see one up there. Bob was also a protector in all the ways a big brother should be. Even if it meant that he would be the one to get into trouble. Bob was mostly deaf & was never taught sign language growing up, but that didn’t stop him from finding ways to communicate, doing things he loved, making friends & even working.
A couple fond memories from Bob’s sisters…
Deeny- Bob would let me drive his car, which was a cherry red, burgundy colored Ford Mustang. I was in hog heaven that I got to drive it, but it also scared the heck out of me because it was fast.
Ingee- When I was young I thought it would be a “good idea” to take his car to go see my friends & when I came back, boy was Bob angry with me. He got over it pretty quickly though when he saw it was still in one piece.
We are so blessed to have had Bob as our Big Brother, and until we meet again you will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
Love, your baby brothers & sisters
