Jackie Lee Holman, Jr. (“Chuck”) was born in Antlers, Oklahoma on September 12, 1949, to Jack (“Jackie”) Lee Holman, Sr. and Billy Jo (“Billie Joe”) Lyles Holman. He passed from this life on August 7, 2023. He attended Culbertson Elementary School and Edwards Elementary School. While at Edwards he played baseball as the first baseman of his team. After elementary school he attended F.D. Moon Jr. High School, where he was in the junior high band. While at Moon Jr. High he became interested in football and played on the school team. He attended Douglass Senior High School. At Douglass he was starting Freshman quarterback of the Junior Varsity Trojan football team. He later decided to focus on music and became active in the Music Department, where he was a percussionist in the Concert Orchestra and the “Pride of the East Side” Trojan Marching Band. During his Senior year in the Marching Band he was elected by his fellow band members as the Band’s Drum Major. After graduation he completed his high school career graduating with the Class of 1967. After graduation he attended Okmulgee Technical School where he completed a program in Tailoring.
On April 14,1969 Chuck joined the United States Air Force. Early in his Air Force career he was leader of his Squadron and of its Drum Corps. Chuck and Claudine Sadler were married in February 1970 for 11 years. Three children were born from this union (Ellen Denise, Jocelyn and Jamie Blaine). Chuck received an Honorable Discharge at Offutt AFB, Nebraska on January 21, 1973 and reenlisted at Tinker AFB later that same year. His final Honorable Discharge was on January 21, 1977 (after having served 7 years, 7 months and 16 days). He also served two tours of duty in Vietnam. For his service in Vietnam he received the Vietnam Service Medal (VSM) andthe Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (RVCM). Other recognition he received from the Air Force were the National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (AFEM), the Air Force Good Conduct Medal (AFGCM)(twice), and the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award (AFOEA). Chuck also had a brief assignment in Korea while in the Air Force.
While stateside Chuck continued his passion for playing the drums by being a member of various rock bands. He continued to play as a rock percussionist for several years after his final discharge from the Air Force.
On November 8, 2002 Chuck was baptized into the Roman Catholic faith at Mercy Health Center; and confirmed at St. Eugene Catholic Church on April 19, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie Lee Holman, Sr. and Billie Joe Holman; his brother Pierre Holman; his daughters, Ellen D. Holman and Jocelyn Holman, and nephew David Woodard. He leaves to mourn his passing his former wife Claudine Holman, his son Jamie Holman; his grandsons Dre Holman and Ron Christopher Glover, Jr. (Ellen’s sons); his sisters Gilda J. Holman, Marion Holman (niece Megan Woodard, great nephew A.J. Edwards); Octavia Holman; Marilyn Holman; Lisa Holman Krutz (niece Izza Bennai, nephew Mark Butler (Jessica Reid and great niece Scarlet Butler, great nephew Jayden Butler Tucker); Kathryn Holman; his beloved, faithful German Shepherd Jerry; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home. Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 1pm-6pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 2400 W. Hefner Rd. at 12 Noon, Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Interment: Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, 7801 N.W. Expressway. The family would like to extend special thanks to ComForCare Home Care and Brianna, Lorita, and Kay for their care and compassion while tending to Chuck’s needs as his health declined.
