Jo Lou Oross Tyson passed into eternal life March 9, 2015. Jo Lou was born September 11, 1925 in Oklahoma City to William and Timy (Chastian) Oross, younger sister to Billy and Mickey. After graduating from Central High School in 1943, where she was active in Drum & Bugle Corp and 1942 Band Queen, Jo Lou married Joe Louis Tyson on December 27, 1944. Jo Lou attended the University of Oklahoma and worked at Federal Supply Corp before the birth of her daughters Jerri and Jamie. Along with becoming a full-time homemaker, Jo Lou was continually home room mother, Girl Scout chauffer, youth group sponsor, and Drill Team mom. Summer weekends were always on water skis at Lake Texoma along with the Towe family. Jo Lou volunteered for many years with Deaconess Hospital Auxiliary and was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Jo Lou was preceded in death by her parents, William & Timy Oross; her brothers, William Oross & E. Michael Oross; and her life-long love Joe L. Tyson. Joe & Jo Lou were married exactly 64 years at the time of Joe's passing in 2008. Jo Lou is survived by her grateful daughters and their families: Jerri & Phil Buckmaster, grandson Preston Buckmaster and great-granddaughter Ashton Buckmaster of Ardmore, OK; Jamie & Richard Qualls of OKC, grandson Parry Qualls & his wife Bailey of Johnson City, TN, and loving niece Patti Ann Oross of OKC. Jo Lou will be missed by her loyal companion, Murray.

Viewing will be Thursday March 12 from 1 pm to 8 pm with the family present from 6-8 pm. Memorial service celebrating Jo Lou's life will be at Grace United Methodist Church at 2pm Friday, March 13. The family suggests memorials to Grace United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
