Joe Walker Lewis was born October 1, 1941, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Benjamin Ray and Opal Nell Lewis, and passed from this life on April 22, 2024.
Joe spent his childhood in Muskogee and attended college at Northeastern University in Tahlequah, where he received his bachelor’s degree before attending Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio, TX. On August 18, 1961, he married the love of his life, Glenda Pauline Trippard. Joe was a practicing Doctor of Chiropractic in Hollis, OK for 33 years, retiring in 1999. While in Hollis, he served on the city council, Board of Directors for both Westview Boys Home and Quartz Mountain Christian Camp and was active in the Kiwanis Club. He served as a Deacon at Hollis Church of Christ, an Elder at Mannford congregation and recently served as a Deacon at Cherokee Hills congregation.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Pat Worthington.
He is survived by Glenda, his wife of 62 years; three daughters, Lisa Freeman of Bedford, TX, Jamie Brown and husband, Jim, of Yukon, OK and Julie Schroeder and husband, Lance, of Flower Mound, TX; six grandchildren, Hunter Freeman, Chaney Freeman, Nate Brown, Ben Brown, Erin Schroeder and Lauren Schroeder; one sister, Winnie Reese, of Wagoner, OK; and numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.
