John "Houndog" Patrick McLaughlin was born in OKC, OK to John Allen McLaughlin and Dottie Mae Stoops. Twenty one days after being diagnosed with Stage IV Liver Cancer God called him home Sunday evening, 2/12/12, at the young age of 57 years. His wife and family were at his side during his last hours on this earth. He was employed at Red Carpet Car Wash in the maintenance department. He had worked in the maintenance field for 27 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the US Navy. He was an avid motorcyclist. He and his wife Tracey "Thumper" were the co-founders of Thunder Roads Magazine of OK (motorcycle magazine for bikers). Due to his creative and way with words and his perfection and making sure all I's were dotted and all t's were crossed is the main reason that Thunder Roads Magazine was awarded in 2007 the number one Magazine in the US. He always thought it was so cool and such an honor to ride his motorcycle and get paid for it. John "Houndog" had a life- long passion for playing the drums and music. A love and talent he passed on to his son and step-son. He had such a gentle, kind spirit all who met him loved him. He worked hard, played hard and his twinkling blue eyes and friendly smile is a gift to all who loved him and will be sorely miss. Ride free until we met again.
John is survived by his wife, Dr. Tracey McLaughlin, BCND ; mother, Dottie; Son, Marcus and wife April, step-son, Tyler Green, his only grandson Lincoln; 4 sisters, Cathy, Cynthia, Connie, and Carole; 1 brother Mike; any many nephews and nieces.
