John Melvin Peterson, age 72 passed away peacefully, Monday, Surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born in Eveleth, MN to Melvin Gerald Peterson and Lola Gertrude (Casper) Peterson. John attended Webster High School in Tulsa, OK and immediately upon his graduation in 1964 enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served faithfully during the Vietnam War. After successfully completing his military service, he enrolled in Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK and graduated in 1970. He then began what would prove to be a lifelong career with Public Service Company of Tulsa, OK in 1970. A few years into his career, he pursued yet another dream of his, by enrolling at Tulsa University and received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, in 1985.
John and Sharon Lee (Hall) Wilson were married on March 1, 2003, and began their lives together in Gahanna, OH for two years, and then relocated back to Oklahoma.
John had many loves and passions, which included, his family and friends. He loved to study the Bible, history, and also teach The Word. John enjoyed fishing, golfing, wood work and yard work. But, most of all he enjoyed the friends he shared these times with. John was a very generous and considerate person, who always believed everyone deserved a second chance. He never passed up a chance to serve others, and be a blessing in any way he could. He loved the Lord, and it showed through his kindness, patience and encouragement of others.
Survived to honor John, and remember his loving kindness are his beloved wife, Sharon, three children: Eric(Angie) Peterson, of Olathe, Kansas; Carrie (Chad) Smith, Tulsa, OK and Ashley (Chris) Justice of Tulsa, OK and two step children: Chris (Lindsey) Wilson of Madien, NCand Amy Quirk of Noble, OK; His mother Lola G. Phillips; Eleven grandchildren; niece siblings; nieces, nephews, and dear friend and a host of friends.

Visitation will be 9 am -8 pm Thursday, April 19, 2018 with family to receive guests from 6-8 pm at Buchanan Funeral Service. A celebration of John’s life will be 2 pm, Friday, April 20, 2018 at Christ Legacy.
