Joseph J Wojtkowiak was born October 15, 1934 in Detroit, MI to Martha (nee Sieja) and Joseph Wojtkowiak. He graduated from Warren High School, Warren, MI in 1952. He played both the saxophone and clarinet and was a member of WHS marching band. He also was a member of his high school track team. He graduated from the University of Detroit, a Jesuit university, with a BS in math and then returned to UofD to get hours for a BS in chemistry. He went to Wayne State University to get an MS in math. He served in the US Army from 1957 – 1959. He retired from General Motors Research Laboratories in Warren, MI as a Senior Research Chemical engineer. He married Betty Jo Foster on August 23, 1958 at Ft. Bragg, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Agnes Frances, who died in 1936 at the age of 7; two daughters, Martha Rose, and Pauline May, who both died a few minutes after their births; and his son in law, Teddy Hale. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo; two sons, Joseph Foster Wojtkowiak and Michael Peter Wojtkowiak; three daughters, Patrica Anne Bitler (Scott), Kathleen Marie Wojtkowiak, and Elizabeth Joan Hale. He has seven grandchildren. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid duplicate bridge player and a life master. He liked crossword puzzles and did extensive travel before illness hampered his many activities.
