Joyce Ann Swart, age 78, died Saturday, April 9, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born December 4, 1937 in Cleo Springs, OK to Carl and Beatrice Newton.
She was a high school teacher at Ripley Public School System and US Grant High School for about 7 years. She was employed at the Oklahoma Banker's Association for 3 years. She truly enjoyed working as a church secretary at Cherokee Hills Christian Church for over 28 years. She enjoyed church activities and loved working in the yard. Her favorite pastime was spending every possible moment being a grandmother to her 5 grandchildren whom she dearly and genuinely loved. She never met a stranger and enjoyed enriching other people's lives. She was the best mother-n-law anyone could ask for and was loved dearly by her "daughters." She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Raymond; 2 sons, Coulter Swart and his wife Patty and Dathan Swart and his wife Desiree; 5 grandchildren, Morgan, Colton, Kaley, Skyler and Cayden; 3 sisters, Judy Matheny, Ida Darnell and Rose Gillig; 3 brothers, Jake, Clark and Robert Newton. Visitation will be at Buchanan Funeral Service on Monday and Tuesday from 1 – 8 PM. Services to celebrate her wonderful life will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Westside Christian Church in Yukon, OK.
