Joyce Darlene Higgins August 5, 1944 - October 3, 2014

On Friday, Oct 3, J. Darlene "Sceet" Higgins went to sleep here and woke up in Heaven surrounded by God, Jesus, and those that went before her. Born in Neosho, MO, on August 5th, 1944 to Walter and Beulah Souders, she was the youngest of 12, with 9 sisters and 2 brothers. She moved with her family to southern California, where she finished school and met John Higgins, the man that would change her last name. Together they had 2 boys, and the family moved to Bethany, Oklahoma in 1970. Sceet held many "titles", from full time mom, to business partner and treasurer, to waitress and bartender. Her last role in the business world was 10 years as Secretary / Treasurer of an ATM company created by her sons. Divorced in the '80s, she loved living the last 21 years with her buddy and companion Johnie Williamson. Sceet was known for her bubbly personality, infectious smile, and caring heart. She loved dancing, slot machines, and holiday get togethers with family and friends, where she was guaranteed to prepare enough food to feed 2 armies and a small town. She is survived by Johnie Williamson at her last home here on earth, her sons and their spouses; John Higgins and fiancé Tanya Van Niekerk, Robert Higgins and wife Patti, as well as grandchildren. John gave her 3 while he was married to Leona Higgins: Jay, Tori, and Jackie, all grown into young adults and on their own, and fiancé Tanya added 2 more to the fold, Michelle, 5, and Jace, 4, whom she loved as well. Robert and Patti also gave her 3; Cara, Michael, and Kristen., all in school; Cara in college, Michael in high school, and Kristen in elementary. Sceet is survived by her oldest brother and decorated WWII veteran Jay Souders of Ramer, Tenn, and sister Janie "Watts" Conkle of Yukon, OK. She is also survived by over 40 remaining nephews and nieces, and many MANY, near and dear friends both in Bethany and across the country. Services and a brief reception will be held Friday, Oct. 10, at 2pm, at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N. Council Road in Oklahoma City.
