Karrol “Papa” Keith Spence, 88, was born in Denton, TX on April 30, 1932 to Anne and Charles Spence, who preceded him in death along with three brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen, and daughter Kim Laird and husband Ken, son Randy Spence and wife Alexis, son David Spence and wife Brenda, daughter Kelly Castleman and husband Keith, daughter Shellie Owen, and son Kevin Mulanax.  His grandchildren include Lyssa Spence, Conner Owen, Cody Spence, Caelin Laird, Jordan Spence, Blake Mulanax, Macey Owen, Kyle Owen, Cooper Mulanax, Cole Creson, and Campbell Mulanax.

Karrol received his architecture degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1959. He opened Karrol Spence and Associate, and numerous apartments, nursing homes and office buildings he envisioned still exist across Oklahoma.  His pride and joy were the home he built from the ground up to provide for his blended family. He had an artistic spirit, and his hobbies included painting, carpentry and writing on a variety of topics that he was so passionate about. His faith was unwavering, and he lived by example daily and it inspired his writings.  He and Karen were inseparable, and they enjoyed being with family, going to church together and attending all their grandchildren’s activities. He also loved all his fur babies especially Harley, Chester, 2d and MoMo, along with his daily Whataburger meal.   Karrol and Karen have been members of Cherokee Hills Christian Church since 1982, and his faith was strong. He was an intelligent, kind, giving, gentle and loving husband, father, Papa to many, he will be greatly missed.

Viewing will be 1-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 14th, with the family attending 6-8 p.m., and the service is Friday, January 15th at 10:30 a.m., both at Buchanan Funeral Service. Papa will be interred at Resurrection cemetery
