Kendra Rochelle Grimes was born on September 27th, 1977, to the proud parents of Ralph Harold Grimes and Denise Lorraine Grimes (Swenke) in Clinton, Ok. She departed this world on September 15th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Kendra grew up in Burns Flat, Oklahoma and attended school at Will Rogers Elementary School. She relocated to Oklahoma City when she was 11 and attended Apollo Elementary School, Mayfield Junior High School and NW Classen High School. She later obtained her GED in 1995.
Kendra’s passions were anything that had to do with arts and crafts, but she especially loved creating tie-dyed t-shirts and painting. She also was an avid collector of all things dolphin. She loved dolphin figurines, jewelry, stuffed animals and t-shirts. Tweety Bird was also one of her favorite characters.
Kendra’s proudest moments were when she gave birth to her son Isaiah Kendrick Grimes on August 23rd, 1997, and obtaining her GED in 1996. She also enjoyed spending free time with her nieces and nephew for game nights and sleepovers; and then later her favorite great nephew Amir Brown-Carter.
Kendra was preceded in death by her son Isaiah Kendrick Grimes, maternal grandparents Spencer Kermit Satchell and Anna Jewel Satchell, paternal grandparents Jim Grimes and Mazie Ann Grimes, her father Ralph Harold Grimes and her sister Felicia Anna Satchell.
Kendra is survived by her mother Denise Swenke of Oklahoma City, brothers Harold Grimes (Shonda) of Quinlan, Tx and Quincy Grimes (Robin) of Oklahoma City, sisters Nichole “Nikki” Brown of Midwest City, Ok, Mazie Ann Grimes, Darlene Grimes, Pam Barnes and Robin Vaughn, all of Sacramento, Ca, nieces Nachelle Brown of Lawton, Jasmyn Brown “the favorite” of Oklahoma City, Victoria Grimes of Dallas, Tx, nephews Dereque Brown of Oklahoma City and Christopher Grimes of Minneapolis, Mn. She is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
The family would like to extend our deepest and heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out via phone calls, texts, social media and all other expressions of love and kindness. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
The memorial service for Kendra will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N Council Rd. Oklahoma City, OK 73132.
