Laverne Alice Depue-Farmer went to be with her Lord and Savior, joining her parents Rev. Henry & Betty Depue. Laverne was born October 18, 1961 at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. She passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.
Laverne worked in food services most of her life. She enjoyed being able to serve others both food and a smile. She loved coffee! She always dreamed of owning her own coffee shop and even created a logo. After she graduated high school she attended Warner Southern University in Lake Wales, Florida.
Laverne’s love for serving in the food industry, created in her a joy for spices and she create her own seasonings, selling them for a while. Early in her career, she helped her husband at the time, open up their own computer company, serving as the President. Laverne loved and enjoyed time with her children; eldest son, Patrick Farmer; second son, Reuben Farmer; youngest daughter, Alicia Farmer.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed being there for others, sharingwith everyone the Love that God had shown to her. In her work, she was able to mentor many. She was called “mom” by several of her children’s friends and even young co-workers. She relied on Jesus Christ in every area of her life. A passage of Scripture that she lived by is Colossians 3:17. “And whatever you do,whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Laverne loved animals, especially horses and dogs. She had a green thumb and loved making plants grow.
Laverne was preceded in death by her grandparents; both of her parents, father Rev. Henry A. Depue, mother, Betty A. (Dorsey) Depue. Laverne is survived by her Children – Patrick, Reuben, and Alicia Farmer, and one on the way; Her sisters and their families – Elizabeth and Gerald Mihelic, their children, Nikolas Mihelic, Caleb and Rebecca Mihelic and their child Reid, and Hannah Mihelic; and Cali and David Eck; their children, Jessica Eck, Benjamin and Peyton Eck, Jonathan Eck and Brooklyn Eck. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Laverne’s Memorial Services will be at New Covenant UMC, 2700 S. Boulevard, Edmond, OKlahoma. on January 14, 2023, at 2:00pm. The family would love to hear your memories of Laverne.
