Lois Carlene Baer July 27, 1953 - December 29, 2020

Lois Carlene Baer, age 67, passed away peacefully December 29, 2020 due to complications from rheumatoid arthritis.  She was born on July 27, 1953 in Oklahoma City to James and Nancy Mobley and graduated from Moore High School in 1971, living in Oklahoma all her life.

Having graduated with her Bachelors of Nursing from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1994, Lois spent her lifetime caring for people, working as a nurse in many different capacities.  As a registered nurse, she assisted in surgery and recovery, served as administrator of nursing centers, and helped ensure the education of future long term care administrators.  Serving as an employee of an insurance company, she made sure that patients were covered for the care that they needed.  When she served as the director of a nursing home, she made sure that the residents felt well-taken care of.

She also spent countless hours volunteering her time for a non-profit agency that advocated for the elderly, Leading Age.  When she heard of anyone who had questions about elderly care, she was always available to help them.  Her experience and depth of knowledge regarding aging issues was a huge benefit to so very many over the years.  She truly had a deep desire to take care of people.

Lois generously shared her other gifts, as well.  As a beautician she enjoyed giving the gift of beauty to others as she provided many haircuts, colors and styles over the years.  As a cook, she made anything and everything with excellence.  As a seamstress, she had unbeatable skill, taking the time to sew her daughter’s wedding dress and all her bridesmaids’ dresses.  In her free time, she loved to dance and enjoyed her membership in both The Alliance and The Registry social organizations.

Lois was the cherished wife of Peyton Baer and daughter Bonnie and husband Gary Young.  She was also the loving mother of Jennii Stephens and grandchildren: Connor, Nathaniel, Lexi, Katie and Zack; and Andy and wife Sarah Olson and grandchildren: Joseph, Jordan, Jayla and Andy.  She was the adored sister of Leslie and husband Larry Moore.  She was Aunt LoLo to nieces, Tracey and husband, Greg Morava; and Tamey and husband, Randy Simmons, and sons: Clayton and Bryce, and greatniece, Ashley and husband, Roger Hyatt, and daughter: Aubrey.  Her family lovingly remembers her as full of love and light-hearted, always making them laugh.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 5th, from 12-5pm at Buchanan Funeral Home.  She will be laid to rest at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 6th.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation at omrf.org.  This organization researches both aging, something Lois was very passionate about, and rheumatoid arthritis, which took her life and affects the quality of life of so many others.
