Lois Esther Dougherty August 10, 1928 - May 2, 2020

Lois was born to Pete & Anna Koman of Krebs, OK, August 10, 1928.    She married Jack Dougherty in 1947 and raised 4 sons.

Her first career was her husband, Jack, for 47 years, till his death in 1994, and her 4 children until they graduated from high school.

Next, she considered it a privilege to serve the sick at Baptist Integris hospital over 21 years, as a nursing assistant and heart monitor tech.  She had empathy for anyone who was having troubles and wanted to help whenever she could. So, at the hospital she found complete happiness and fulfillment in nursing the sick.  Her husband once said “I believe you would live in the hospital if they would fix a room for you”

She was an active member of St Patrick’s Catholic Church, serving the Lord and the community.  She also served as a Eucharistic Minister, and as a volunteer in the church office.

Lois was always happy and loved to visit with whoever was present.  She was a good cook and is remembered for her home-made bread and sugar cookies.  No one could make them as good as her.

In her “Grandma” years, she served and loved her sons and their families, with a special devotion to all of her grandchildren who she dearly loved.

She enjoyed working in her yard with her flowers and “fixing things up”.  She loved garage sales and often joked that her car would just automatically turn in to the sales.

One of her favorite people was Mother Teresa and she framed the quote “We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”

Even as she suffered from Alzheimer’s in later years, she had a smile on her face most of the time.   She will be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving person.

She is survived by her 4 sons, Tom, Joe, Gene, and Jack, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be buried beside her husband at Resurrection Cemetery.  A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
