Myrtle “Loretha” (Russell) Walker, age 85, went to be with the angels on January 20, 2021. She was born on March 14, 1935 in Beggs Oklahoma to James and Myrtle Russell. She grew up in Beggs. She met and married Virgil Walker, Sr. on August 23, 1950, at the age of 15, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They lived in Fort Worth, Texas for a few years, and the remaining years of their marriage in Oklahoma, where they raised their 6 children. They were charter members of Memorial Road Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. In her final days she lived at Teal Ridge Assisted Living with Virgil. She was Virgil’s wife for 70 years. She is preceded in death by one son, Johnny Kevin Walker, her parents, Gladys and James Russell, her sister, Frances Dixon, and brothers James Russell and Brach Russell. She is survived by her husband, Virgil Douglas Walker, Sr., 5 children. Janet Fredericks of Edmond, Virgil Douglas Walker, Jr. and his wife, Robin, of Edmond, Sherry Oxford of Jones, Oklahoma, Becky Reynolds and her husband, Bobby, and William “Bill” Albert Walker, all of Edmond, Oklahoma, 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was called Granny by her grandchildren. – Her favorite color was red, her favorite food was steak, and her favorite candy bar was Snickers. She loved irises and had an extensive collection, planting (and sharing) them wherever she lived. – Virgil and Loretha’s “song” was “My Happiness.”
