A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Buchanan Funeral Service of Oklahoma City.

Lucille Urban aka Mamma Lucy passed away in her home on 02-15-2025 peacefully with her daughters Julie Whittaker and Kerrie Melton at her side. She gained her wings and is now with the Lord Jesus Christ. Mamma Lucy loved her family and we have so many memories with her. One thing that stood out was the date and time of her death which was 02/15/2025 and time of death was 5:15 PM. All the grandkids would make her say 15 and she would say it like “fiffdeen” This was her telling them that she was ok and in the best place. I also looked out the window and it was snowing like a blizzard which was not expected. Once she passed it quit snowing.
Lucille was born on November 11, 1933, in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin, to Alexander Rufus Hill and Ada P. Hill, both of whom preceded her in death. Mama Lucy loved life and enjoyed spending time with her family when she was well. She loved watching crime shows with her family and the grand kids great grandchildren and to this day, they still watch theses shows. Throughout her life we enjoyed going to the casinos and I will never forget that she won a jackpot and was able to get her little car painted with the money she won.
The Crime show she watched also made her grandson Ryan go get his college degree in Criminal Justice. He now works at Love’s in the asset protection investigating theft cases and loves his job.
Lucille Urban was a nurse and worked at Hillcrest Hospital for 30 years in OKC. She was awarded employee of the year date 1983 to 1984. All of the Doctors and Nurses love her as she was known for taking such good care of her patients at the hospital. She was a class act and the patients at the hospital would request her to take care of them. She had so many memories at this hospital. She was a caregiver and loved to make everyone feel cared for and respected.
Her Granddaughter Kyleigh Todd is also in the medical field working in the ER and will be going to college to be a nurse. It does not stop her in the medical field. Her Grandsons Blake Todd and Michael Todd are both first responders and we want to acknowledge a thank you for your service. Katya Smith (great granddaughter) is also wanting to go into the medical field. This runs into are family.
We also loved going to the lake and spending time on the water. Even at an older age, she loved water skiing at the lake. We have so many memories of spending time with the family at the lake.
Mama Lucy is a cancer survivor of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Her granddaughter and my daughter Kristen Todd is also a breast cancer survivor of 10 years and both fought this disease and won. I am so proud of both of you fighting cancer with dignity and proving cancer sucks but can be defeating this disease.

Every night at 7:00 pm mama would call her son Rob to say goodnight. He already misses her calls. They would talk about the day they had each night.
Mama Lucy would come and get her grandson Ryan Smith to go to the dollar movies. She had a tight budget and would take her Shasta pop and her own popcorn to the movies and hid it in her purse lol. When we were little, Rob and my sister Julie would go to the drive-in and would take our own treats to the show as the we could not afford the snack bar. So many memories.
Mama Lucy had an infectious laugh when watching the Johnny Carson show. I remember hearing her laugh so hard and will never forget her laugh,
Every year we would go to St. Paul MN and Wisconsin to see our grandparents. The best time was going to Turtle Lake Wisconsin to spend time with Grandma Hill and all of our Aunties and Uncles in Wisconsin. We would go to the farm and eat fresh food. We would also have to wake up at 5:00 am to do chores like feeding the cows and milking them. My aunt would make sure she had fresh milk and butter at dinner time. Her name was Helen Bar. My Grandma also made homemade bread which was so delicious.
I also want to recognize Dennis and Julie Whittaker taking such good care of Mamma up to the time of death. She lived a great life living alone until her death on 2/15/25 where she died peacefully in her bed at home. It was such a blessing as all mama wanted was to have Jesus take her as she was in so much pain. We were able to tell her goodbye. She was the beloved sister to nine siblings, one of whom, Jerome Hill, survives her, along with his wife Marla, residing in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Lucille was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Rob Urban of Oklahoma City, and daughters, Julie Whittaker and her husband Dennis of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Kerrie Melton and her husband Monte of Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Kristen Todd and her husband Michael of Cookson, Oklahoma, and Ryan Smith and his fiancée Patricia Domingos-Dos Santos of Yukon, Oklahoma. Lucille was especially adored by her four great-grandchildren, who shared her love for watching crime TV shows together: Blake Todd of Oklahoma City, Kyleigh Todd and her boyfriend Aedan Hughey, Katya Smith, and R.J. Smith, all of Yukon, Oklahoma.
She will be missed by all of her friends and family.
