Luis Lopez August 19, 1936 - September 16, 2021

Luis Lopez, 85, succumbed to cancer peacefully at home in Laredo, TX on September 16th. Luis is predeceased by his wife Priscilla Lopez; parents Alfonso and Ramona Lopez; siblings Rodolfo Lopez, Margarito Lopez, Alfonso Lopez and Florencio Lopez.  Alongside Luis will be his beloved pet “Bif” who passed away on Aug. 2, 2021.  Luis served in the U.S. Army for over 30 years where he served as a Personnel Sergeant, Administrative Specialist and Supply Specialist receiving numerous achievements, ribbons and medals.  Luis, known to Laredoans as “Chino” enjoyed hunting, making Sunday cookouts for his family, and Las Vegas.  How do you measure someone’s love towards their loved one on their death-bed? By ensuring every wish is granted. If dad wants Menudo, Catfish, Grapes, Grapefruit, white cheese Enchiladas, Tabasco sauce, Serrano pepper, Coke, Sprite or Big Red, you get him what he wants.  These are the little things and many more that we did for our “dad.” Although there were many moments of grief during our dad’s illness, there were moments of Laughter, Happiness, and Family unity. For these memorable moments we thank you dad. Luis is survived by his children Luis (Maria Rosario) Lopez, Homero (Elizabeth) Lopez, Jackie Lopez, and step son Denis (Teresa) Belvin and grandson Damien Belvin.  Also surviving him are two sisters Consuelo (+Victor) Gonzalez, Beatriz (Alfredo) Leal; two brothers Valentin (Cynthia) Lopez, Ramon (Yolanda) Lopez and sisters-in-law Mary (+Rodolfo) Lopez, Elida (+Margarito) Lopez and Diamantina (+Florencio Lopez). Luis had 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 5024 N. Grove, Warr Acres, OK following a procession to Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, 7500 W. Britton Rd., Oklahoma City, OK with full military honors.
