Maggiorina Z Candusso June 10, 1929 - December 1, 2018

Maggiorina Zita Candusso 89, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2018. She was born in Udine, Italy on June 10, 1929 to parents Guiseppe and Margherita Beinat.  She grew up on a farm in Italy during WWII and came to the United States where she married Albert Candusso in 1947.  They settled in Chicago where she worked as a seamstress until her son Robert was born.  After her second child Ellen was born, she became a full time homemaker.

She was affectionately known as Noni after her grandchildren had a hard time pronouncing the word Nona (grandmother) in Italian.  She was devoted to her family and loved sewing, gardening and cooking Italian dishes for her family and friends.   Her yard was always full of flowers; marigolds and Shasta daisies.

After her husband passed away, she moved to Oklahoma City to live with her daughter and enjoy the warmer weather.  A devout Catholic she attended services at St. Bernardine Parish in Chicago and at St. Ann’s Home, where she resided for the last year and a half.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert, and son Robert.  She is survived by her older siblings Callisto Beinat, Pio Beinat and Cesarina Minini, all still living in Italy.

She leaves behind a daughter Ellen Macella and husband Bruce; grandson Peter Robert (Bobby) Candusso and wife Karen, granddaughter Carla Schlick and husband Matthew and grandson Christopher Macella along with great grandchildren, Nicholis, Gina, Tiffany, Ethan, Dominic and Caitlin Candusso and Timothy Schlick and great great grandchildren Bentley, Nevaeh, and Kinsley as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews living in California, Ohio, Italy and Australia.

We want to thank the staff, nurses and aides at St. Anne’s Home.  Their compassion and care made the last few years a peaceful home for our “Noni.”

Her smile and devotion to her family was an inspiration to us all she will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be at Buchanan Funeral Service on Friday December 7, 2018 from 2 to 8 p.m., with family present to receive guests from 5-7 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, December 8th at 1 p.m

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City.
