Maria Carmen Ferrer was born January 15, 1953 in Cebu City Cebu Philippines to parents Fedelina Encavo and Victoriano Ferrer. She was the second of six children.
At the age of seventy one, Maria passed August 29, 2024 in Oklahoma City Oklahoma.
She met her husband Bruce Edward Martin while he was serving in the Navy in Cebu. They married November 24, 1972. Maria was a Navy wife for a total of ten years, giving birth to her three sons in the Subic Bay Navy base.
Early 1979 the Martins moved to the Oklahoma City area where they raised Marty, Brian, and Henry.
Maria enjoyed hobbies of ceramics, crocheting, gardening, and cooking. The grandchildren and extended family all received beautiful handmade gifts of afghans, bags, and doll clothing. She enjoyed camping and fishing with the family. Maria was so tiny and young looking she often appeared to be her boys’ sister.
In her native language of Visaya, she was known as Lola meaning Grandmother. Maria absolutely ADORED her grandchildren! Her reason for living was to see her grandchildren mature to adulthood.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents, younger brother Victoriano Jr. and daughter-in-law Cylinda Martin.
Maria is survived by husband of fifty one years Bruce Edward, son Marty and daughter Olivia of Moore, Oklahoma; son Brian and wife Christina of Escondido, California and children Raechel Martin, Eli Valles and Madison Valles; and son Henry with wife Nikki of Newcastle, Oklahoma and children Riley, Clara Jean, Lilah, and Von.
