Mary Lou (Fiser) Paulus died at the age of 87 on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born August 7, 1933 in Charles City, Iowa to Ralph and Margaret (Wilcox) Fiser. She attended school in Charles City where she was a member of the Charles City High School Girls’ Glee Club.
Mary was married to Donald Charles Paulus, Sr. on March 31, 1951 in Mason City, Iowa. They lived in Charles City, Iowa and had five children, Sandra L. (Paulus) Alderman, Donald C. Paulus, Jr., Michael E. Paulus, Jeffery Paulus and Francis Paulus. Mr. and Mrs. Paulus moved to Lone Grove, Oklahoma in 1986, and Mrs. Paulus later moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 2017, where she resided until the time of her death.
Professionally, Mary was a CNA for over 25 years before retiring in 1996. During her career as a CNA, she was employed by Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa and Ardmore Convalescent Home in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Mary took pride in assisting the residents by providing them with lots of love and care throughout her career.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was known for her feisty and outgoing personality, which filled the room with joy and laughter wherever she went. Spending time with family and attending school and sporting events for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlights of her life.
Mary is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Fiser and Shirley Fiser, one son-in-law, Larry Alderman, two daughters-in-law, Sheila Wohlrabe and Angela Paulus, thirteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Fiser, mother, Margaret (Wilcox) Fiser, husband, Donald Paulus, Sr., brothers, LeRoy Fiser, Lloyd Fiser, Floyd Fiser, Robert Fiser and Roger Fiser, sisters, Alice (Fiser) Peterson and Donna (Fiser) Debban, sons, Donald Paulus, Jr., Michael Paulus, Jeffery Paulus and Francis Paulus, and daughter, Sandra (Paulus) Alderman.
A memorial service for Mary Lou Paulus will be Friday, December 4, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Buchanan Funeral Service located at 8712 N. Council Road, Oklahoma City, OK 73132, conducted by Pastor Shawn Smalling.
