Mary Teresa Brannum died on July 24, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Mary was born and grew up on a farm in Northeastern Nebraska where she loved to ride her horses; later in life, she liked to bet on them. She graduated from Briar Cliff University, and her first job was as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Alameda County Probation Office, Oakland, CA. However, family illness prompted her return to Nebraska where she did social work at Catholic Social Services for ten years. Mary was also the Activities Director at St. Anne's Nursing Home and then the Financial Secretary at Christ the King School until she retired in 2003.
Mary was honest and outspoken, and you could always laugh at her spontaneous remarks. She was not easily intimidated.
Preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents Charles and Margaret Mills, and one sister, Rainy Wickett.
Mary is survived by her two sons, Grant and his wife Cheryl and Mark and his wife Amanda; her very favorite Granddaughters Macie and Kate; a special niece Elizabeth Erwin and her husband Jim; nephew David Wickett and his wife Rita; niece Ann Wickett and her Granddogs Skye and Abby.
Mary was very grateful for the support provided by Theresa Luetkemeyer and Pam Green during her five years of treatment. Special Thanks to Doctor Hampton, Nurse Judy and Nurse Rita, Doctor Gasberra, and Doctor Barreto. Mary especially wants to thank Carla McPhearson for all her loving care.
Rosary will be on Friday July 26, 2013, at 7:00 pm at Buchanan Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be on Saturday July 27, 2013, at 11:00 am. Lunch at Epiphany after Mass. Memorials are requested to be sent to the Carmelite Monastery, 20000 County Line Road, Piedmont, OK 73078.
