Maurice “Red” E. Cavnar was born Aug. 18, 1935 to Maurice and Minnie Dot Cavnar. He was the middle son with Jim (oldest) and Donnie (youngest). They grew up in the area of NE 63rd & Coltrane on 5 acres. He attended Millwood Elementary and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1953. Attending OSU for two years, leaving college to pursue a career in pipefitting/plumbing. He married the woman of his dreams, Martha E. Anderson on May 23, 1959. They purchased their first house at 3808 N. Drexel, and soon brought home their first born, Esther Maurene Cavnar. Two more children were to follow, Curtis Eugene Cavnar and Carlene Rene Cavnar.

Red loved his family and often participated in their extracurricular activities including taking Maurene around the City in order to sell CampFire Candy, baseball with Curtis, and coaching softball with Carlene.  He was a member of Lake Overholser Church and an active member willing to volunteer his labor in order to help maintain the Church building. His sense of humor brightened the room as he interacted with those he knew and did not know. It never seemed to be an issue that everywhere the family went, Red/Dad knew someone in the room.

He was a loving husband, father, plumber, Mason and Christian. He left this Earth on July 31, 2024 in a peaceful, restful sleep. We are grateful for his freedom from suffering and know he is in Heaven with Our Father. He will be missed by many.

The Memorial Service for Red will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N Council Rd. Oklahoma City, OK 73132.
