Merlene Bramlett of Oklahoma City passed away September 1, 2017 at the age of 95. She was born to Eli and Mary Austin on June 14, 1922 in her grandmother’s house in Sayre, OK. She was the youngest of 12 children. She grew up on a farm just outside of Sayre until she was 14 years old when they moved into town. She graduated from Sayre High School in 1942 and then moved to Oklahoma City where she worked at Douglas Aircraft Co. She married the love of her life, Rayburn Bramlett, on December 16, 1945. Together they owned and operated Bramlett Electric Co. for over 35 years. They were happily married for 61 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Nobles and husband Jim and Karen Scott and husband Cecil; granddaughters, Jennifer Nobles, Linda Zimmerman and husband John, and Krystal Thurman and husband Terrian; grandson, Michael Mettler and wife Becky; great-grandchildren, Porter Zimmerman, Scarlett Zimmerman, and Faora Thurman. She was also loved by many extended family members and friends. Merlene devoted her life to her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She was always full of life, laughter, and love. She will be fondly remembered for the rest of our lives. Visitation will be Sunday, September 3, 2017 from 1-8 PM with the family receiving visitors from 3-5. Memorial service will be 10:00 am, Monday, September 4, 2017 all at Buchanan Funeral Service in OKC with interment at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery at 3:00 pm in Sayre, OK.
