Memorial Service: 10:00am, March 27th, 2023, at Reflection Church

Darl Nathan Smith, 45, of Yukon, OK unexpectedly returned to the arms of his Heavenly Father Saturday, March 18th, 2023. Nathan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Lonnie and Louella Smith of Ada, OK; maternal grandparents Helen and William “Sleepy” Miller of Newport, TN; as well as several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his parents Carl Dean and Linda Smith of Oklahoma City, OK; brother Stephen Smith and spouse Lisa Reed of Edmond, OK; sister Melissa Kenny and spouse Tim Kenny of Edmond, OK; nieces Haley Smith, Lela Smith, Ashtyn Kenny, and Evyn Kenny; nephews Miller Dean Smith and Nakoby “Koby” Kenny; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from across the US who share their love for Nathan.

Nathan was born October 7th, 1977, at Integris Health Baptist hospital in Oklahoma City. He was raised in Moore, OK and graduated from Moore High School in 1996. While in high school he dually enrolled at Moore/Norman Technical School where he became skilled in HVAC systems and electrical engineering. Following graduation, he went to work at the Hertz Corporation where he worked his way into computer technology and information systems. Nathan was a dedicated and loyal employee, a hard worker, and life-long learner which helped him earn respect and promotions during his twenty plus year career with the Hertz Corp. He often told his dad that if he went a day without learning something new it was a wasted day.

Nathan was a person of many talents, gifts, and hobbies. He loved to laugh, joke, and pull lighthearted pranks. He was a huge outdoorsman and enjoyed bike riding, motorcycles, boating, camping, and fishing. He was a self-sufficient person with impressive survivalist knowledge and skills. There was not a home renovation or mechanical issue that he didn’t know how to fix.

Nathan was a deep thinker with a tender side that made him sensitive to the needs of others. He cared about seniors and went out of his way to watch over his elderly neighbors. His love language was acts of service and frequently dedicated his personal time to help others. Nathan was a very playful person and loved kids. He discussed his desire to have had children of his own. He also loved to cook for his family and friends with a good fish fry, crab boil, or outdoor grilling.

Nathan was loved and will be deeply missed. We will hold on tightly to all the good memories and treasure the time we had with him. Until we meet again, may he rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord.

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14: 1-3

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Service. A celebration of life memorial service will be held 10 am Monday, March 27th at Reflection Church, 8601 N. Council Rd in OKC. Interment will follow at 3 pm at Rosedale Cemetery 2020 N. Oak Ave, Ada, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Reflection Church at 8601 N.     If roses grow in Heaven Lord
    Please pick a bunch for me.
    Place them in my Brother’s arms
    and tell him they’re from me.

    Tell him that I love and miss him
    and when he turns to smile,
    Place a kiss upon his cheek
    and hold him for a while.

    Because remembering him is easy,
    I do it every day.
    But there is an ache within my heart
    that will never go away.

    My Mother Emma lived across the street from Nathan. He kept an eye on her place after my Father passed away often coming over to just visit on the driveway. He parked his small camper in her yard when he was working on it. Mom often spoke of Nathan as family. Nathan was a good man.

    I am so sorry for Nathan’s passing and your loss. He was always a joy to be around…funny, sensitive, smart and kind. Always a smile on his face.

      I’ll miss my good friend and all our good times riding motorcycles, fishing or just working on stuff in the garage. Nate was good man with a big heart and fun personality. But im not saying goodbye my brother rather I’ll see you again when I leave this earth. I’m sure you’ll be there to greet me along with others when I pass through the gates of heaven then we’ll resume all the fun things we did once again. Love ya Nate and see ya soon!!
