Ofelia Vega de Bynum March 7, 1944 - June 10, 2024

Ofelia Bynum, born March 7, 1944, in Matamoros, Coahuila, Mexico,
passed away on June 10, 2024.
Ofelia resided in Warr Acres, Oklahoma, where she was a cherished wife, a
treasured mother an incredible homemaker and a true blue friend for many
years. Her love for her family will remain an inspiration for all who knew her.
Making sure her children were aware of their heavenly father, lord and
savior. Ofelia is survived by her children, oldest son Severo Bynum and
wife, daughter Brenda Bynum and six beautiful grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Terry Lynn Bynum,
her youngest son Billy W.H. Bynum, her sisters Ernestina Vega and Alicia
Dillon and her parents, Severo Vega de Garcia and Eustolia Casteneda de
Vega of Mexico.
Ofelia and Terry met in El Paso, Texas, in 1968 while he was in the Army
stationed at Ft. Bliss before being deployed to Vietnam for the war. It was
in El Paso that the two fell in love and committed their lives to one another.
Terry and Ofelia had plan that was set into motion to raise a loving family of
three children. Being a nurse provided the skills Ofelia needed to mend and
bandage up their three fun loving children.
For Ofelia, God always came first. She had an undying, and
unquestionable love for her husband and children and provided them with
an exceptional example of how to stick it out together and have one
another's back. During her time as a mother she cooked, sewed, gardened,
taught Bible stories and arts and crafts which were only a few of the many
talents she provided for her family. She taught them to love another, treat
others like they would want to be treated and to smile and laugh. Life is a
blessing and she wanted her family to know and understand this gift.These
precious memories and more are only a few of what she left her family and
friends to remember her by.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2024, from 1 – 8 PM at
Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N Council Rd. Oklahoma City, OK 73132.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 9:00 AM at
Buchanan Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery.
