Patricia Anne Wade, 87, passed away late February 15, 2022.  She was born January 8, 1935 to Leo and Edmer Newton of Waterloo, IA.  She grew up with four siblings, James, Albert Carl, Beverly, and Kenneth.  She also had fond memories of a pet fox in her younger years.  She worked at a local news station in Waterloo doing farm reports.  She loved being behind the scenes however once or twice she did have to fill in during the news.  She never cared about being in front of the camera.  She married John Wade on March 19, 1953.  They settled down in Des Moines after his military service where they had five children, John, Brian, Joseph, Timothy, and Lisa.  In 1976, they moved to Joplin, MO where she joined a crafting group at the local Catholic church.  She would crochet items for the church’s bazaars.  She loved to crochet Lamb Chops, Bert & Ernie, and Big Bird.  She made so many she would then sell them on her own as well at yearly craft shows at the local mall.  Her table was always crowded with buyers and would normally sell out before the end of the weekend.  Her sister Beverly got her interested in ceramics on a visit to Waterloo so that became the new hobby of choice for several years.  She bought her own molds and would pour the ceramics and bake them in a special oven in the garage.  You could always find the grandkids sitting around the dining room table painting the ceramics on visits creating special memories for them.  Her interests moved toward needlepoint and she of course had to peak her sister’s interest as well.  One would complete a project and show the other sister who would then want to do the same item.  They would exchange patterns often like kids sharing baseball cards.  She slowly lost interest in needlepoint following the death of her sister.

Patricia lost two sons, Joseph at birth and her youngest son Timothy on February 2, 2009.  She would then lose her husband of 65 years on February 1, 2019.

She is survived by her children, John (Patrecia), Brian (Stacy), and Lisa (Mark).  She also has four grandchildren Amber, Adam, Samantha, and Dylan.  Five great grandchildren, Olivia, Dallas, Elijah, Owen, and Jakob.

She was an amazing mother and friend to all she met.  She always seemed to find joy even in the rough times.  She maintained her loving happy spirit through her fight with dementia.  She will be greatly missed.  We love you.
