Patricia Mae Kirby March 21, 1951 - September 21, 2021

Patricia (Patty) Mae Kirby, 70, resident of Yukon, Oklahoma and formerly of Mangum, passed away at Integris Canadian Valley Hospital, in Yukon, on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Patty was born on March 21, 1951, in Mangum, Oklahoma to Raymond and Marjorie (Shumate) Waldroop.  Raymond and Marjorie moved to California when Patty was a baby.  She graduated from Alisal High School in 1969.

While in California, Patty met the love of her life, David Dean Kirby, at a chapel service in Fort Ord, California.  After corresponding until he returned from his year in Vietnam in 1969, they were married on November 14, 1970, in Salinas, California and they spent forty-nine wonderful years together before his death on October 16, 2019.  Patty and her family lived in Prunedale, California until 1988, before moving to Mangum where they established their home on a farm east of town. 

Patty received her degree in Radiology Technology in 2004 and was employed at the Mangum Hospital until her retirement.  She was a very talented seamstress and loved tending and growing roses.  Piano Patty held a lifetime love of music and taught many students to play piano.  A longtime member of the Church of Christ, Patty loved helping people and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.  Over the course of forty years, she taught hundreds of children about our Lord and Savior in Bible class.  Patty primarily spent her life serving and caring for her children, husband, and community.

Patty is preceded in death by her husband, David Kirby, and her son, Adam Ray Kirby.

She is survived by her three children, Matthew Kirby of Bowie, Texas, Patricia Bryan and husband Mark of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Jeremiah and wife Brooke Kirby of Mangum, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, Kameron Kirby, Adam Kirby, Kaytlin Kirby, Courtney Bryan, Heather Bryan, Jasmin Bryan, Tiffany Bryan, Zoey Bryan, Grayson Bryan, Annika Bryan, Charlee Kirby, Jackson Kirby, Talula Kirby; one great-grandson, Kodi Kirby; her parents, Raymond and Marjorie Waldroop, of Mangum; one brother, James and wife Michelle Waldroop; brothers and sisters-in-law, Noel Ernie and wife Vicki Kirby, Ron and wife Mary Kirby, Janet and husband Mike Powers, Karen and husband Mike Trigs, and Lowell and wife Natalie Kirby; along with many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, October 1, 2021, at the West Metro Church of Christ, 4900 S Cemetery Road, Yukon, Oklahoma 73099.

A memorial service will also be at 2 pm, Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the Mangum Church of Christ, 401 E Lincoln Street, Mangum, Oklahoma 73554.

Services are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N. Council Road, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73132.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver, 2707 S. Lamar St., Denver, CO 80227, attention of Dennis Petrillo or Michael Hite.
