Penny Lanet Barter, age 63, passed away at home on Sunday, January 5, 2025. She was born November 27, 1961 in Ringling, OK to John and Emma Dean (Ragan) North. In her childhood, Penny lived in many Oklahoma towns including Ardmore, Sulphur, and the Baptist Children’s Home in Oklahoma City. Later, Penny lived with her mother in Oklahoma City and she attended Northeast High School. When she started working, she found her love for accounting and worked for several companies in the Oklahoma City area, including Penske, Reddy Ice, United Engines and Kenworth, reaching the position of Accounting Supervisor.
Then she met John Barter. She was his best friend, the love of his life and partner for life. They had 30 years of marriage together. Through the ups and downs, bad or good, they stayed-together, they were made for each other.
Penny made people smile and laugh, that was her special gift. She loved receiving and giving a good laugh and looked for humor in almost everything. She also enjoyed shopping, and she was great at it. But, her greatest joy in life were her grand boys, they could make her worse day be a better day. Penny will be missed by all that knew her. She loved all her family unconditionally, no matter what.
Penny was preceded in death by her father John North, her mother Emma Dean Nunley and her half-brother Dennis North.
She leaves behind her husband John Barter, her step-son Jason Barter, grandsons Jackson Barter and Jet Barter, her brothers George North and his wife Barbara, and Jimmy North, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
We are having a celebration of our Penny girl’s life on earth and her arrival with her Lord and Savior.
