This real Sooner fan was born to Ralph Dean and Martha Lenora (McKinley) Croy in Oklahoma City where he attended schools graduating from Northwest Classen High School. He made life-long friends at Olivet Baptist Church where he invited Jesus to be his Savoir. While serving in the Air Force and stationed in Alaska, he witnessed the need for compassionate funeral services. He entered the Department of Funeral Service at the University of Central Oklahoma, but the United States Postal Service gave him an opportunity that he accepted and retired from after 35 years. May 9, 1981, he and Dana (Wellner) married at his home church and to that union came the fulfilment of their home, daughter Nicole Michelle (Croy) Weidman. His entertainment was watching his Sooners in sports and in left-over time he became a Thunder fan. His body grew tired, and with deteriorating health, he was ready to join his parents and extended family members, but sad to leave his wife two days after their anniversary, daughter Nicole and son-in-law Phillip Weidman and his precious pug Jayden. His mother-in-law Becky Bailey and cousins across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas, as well as his many friends will miss his “wild” sense of humor. Viewing will be Sunday, May 17, 2020 from 1 – 8 PM at Buchanan Funeral Service. Due to the restrictions in place for COVID-19, there will be a private family service at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org.) or Homeward Bound Pug Rescue (www.homewardboundpugs.com).
