Ray A. Doane March 22, 1923 - August 2, 2017

Ray Doane, 94, of OKC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 2, with his daughters by his side.  Ray was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 22, 1923 to Raymond L. & Ava Francis Weller Doane.  He graduated from Fairfield High School in Iowa in 1941 and attended Toledo University.  He served in the US Army in Europe from 1943 to 1946.  Once discharged he worked for the US Postal Service for 33 years until his retirement. After deciding that retirement wasn’t for him, he rejoined the work force at Reserve National Insurance Co. in the mail room, finally retiring for good in September 1989.  In addition, Ray was a wedding photographer on the weekends.  He enjoyed working in his flower garden and kept a beautiful lawn.  He was a music lover and his favorites were the big bands, especially Lawrence Welk, and the Boston Pops.  Ray was a believer in Jesus Christ and we now rejoice that he is home and no longer suffering!

Ray was a man of few words, but he had the kindest soul.  He was a loving husband to his late wife, Margie, who died just 3 months ago.  Their 70th anniversary would have been this coming October.

Ray was preceded in death by his mother, father, and step-mother, wife Margie Doane and great grandson-Brayden Kostizky.  Survivors include daughters Diane West & husband, Geary of Edmond, Linda DeGraffenreid & husband, Art of OKC; grandchildren, Clay Wilber & wife, Amy of Belton, TX: Kelly Kositzky & husband, Chad of Edmond; Taylor DeGraffenreid Wilson & husband, Braden of Edmond; Great Grandchildren-Izzy & Hudson Wilber; Layni, Kaysen & McKinley Kositzky.

Services will be held on Monday, August 7th at 10:30 AM at Buchanan Funeral Services, 8712 N. Council Rd, OKC, 73132.
