Ray Williams, born November 11, 1944 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 12, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Grace Williams, and his daughter Sharlene Williams. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Cindy Williams of 54 years, his four children, Cindy Munden and husband Richey, Michelle Yaksic and husband Russell, Raymond Williams and fiance Shelley, and Scott Williams, two granddaughters, Shelby Byrd and husband Jared, and Brooklynn Williams, one grandson, Jacob Williams, his brother Carl “Butch” Williams and wife June, and his sister Patricia. He is also survived by honorary friends, Tim Long and family, Jennifer Kniffin and family, Rachel White and family, Kristina Navarro and family, Shelly Williamson, Dean Cummings and family, Dereck Gorrell and family and many others.
He served his country in the Air Force including repairing aviation radar and navigation systems during the Vietnam War. Once his service was completed, he worked for Traffic and Lighting systems, building traffic lights all around Oklahoma. Then, he started his career at Firestone as an automotive mechanic for over 20 years where he retired. He played an integral role in building the soccer community in Oklahoma
City, including helping build the first indoor soccer arena now known as ISA. He loved to water ski at Lake Murray, play the organ, play and coach soccer, and build model cars, planes, and rockets. He truly enjoyed meeting new people and learning their stories. He never met a stranger.
The funeral service for Ray will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N. Council Rd. Oklahoma City, OK 73132.
