Surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Rosita “Rose” Bañaga Briggs, 74, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on February 6, 2021, after a sudden and unexpected brain injury.

Rose was born on June 18, 1946, to Nemecio and Irene Bañaga.  Among 13 brothers and sisters, she grew up in the lush paradise of the Philippines.  In the 1970s, after having children and marrying, she came to the United States and built a beautiful life with Willie and their girls.  Rose has always been family dedicated, not only raising her own children, but nurturing her grandchildren and her great grandchildren as well.  She was a cherished mother who worked hard and poured everything into any endeavor she pursued.  Rose held a variety of work positions from waitressing to small electronics technician to finally retiring from the finance office of Wal-Mart.  After retirement, Rose dedicated her life to church and family.  She was a devout Christian who cherished her offices in the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) that ranged from deaconess, choir member, to finance officer.   Rose was an immaculate seamstress; sewing her daughter’s formals for dances, wedding dresses, and collaborated on projects with several clients.  She was an avid gardener, maintaining plants at home and the church garden.  Rose enjoyed watching Korean dramas and listening to classics like Tom Jones and Neil Diamond.  Her friends say she was easy to talk to and gave great advice.  Her daughters say she was loving and strict.  She raised us to be strong women and taught us resilience, duty, and faith.

Rose is survived by her husband, Willie Clyde Briggs, her daughters: The Daniel Family, JoAnna, Kenneth and children; The Eastling Family, Sandra, George, and children; The Johnson Family, Nadia, Leslie III, and children; The Rosejos Family, Brenda, and children; The Bañaga Family in the Philippines; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
