Rudy Lee Sutherland November 30, 1931 - July 24, 2017

Rudy “Lee” Sutherland, age 85, entered his heavenly sleep on July 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Detroit, MI on Nov. 30, 1931 to Rosco and Amy Sutherland.  Lee was an outstanding example to the insurance profession where he has devoted the past 55 years and was the recipient of many honors and awards from the companies that he represented.  A man with a passion of serving others, he never truly retired.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Sammy Joe; sister, Amy Ruth; and one loving daughter, Suzanna.  He is survived by his wife, Janie (Taylor) Sutherland and her children, Donna, Gina, Jason and Alison; Lee’s children, Richard, Vikki, Robert, Amiee and Samantha and their mother, Jan (Bernard) Sutherland; 40 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His passion was for Jewish people and in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.  A service to celebrate his life will be 3:00 pm, Thursday, July 27 in the chapel of Buchanan Funeral Service.
