The family moved near Las Animas, Colorado in 1927, where at the age of 17 she heard and embraced the Gospel. She embraced the truth and way of God which has been the whole focus of her life from that time on. To this marriage three children were born, Clifford Dudley Roush, Linda Kathleen Roush Shinkle Dobson, and Dixie Diane Roush Gillaspie. In 1987 Ruth adopted Travis McCarty when he was 11 years old.
Ruth was known for having a garden of some variety throughout her life. She greatly enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds and shared the fruits of her labor with her family and friends.
At the age of 80, Ruth moved to Piedmont, Oklahoma to be close to her daughter. Ruth lived independently and cared for herself in her own home with the exception of a three-year span when she chose to live with her daughter Linda. The last three months of her life were spent in Parkland Manor, in Prague Oklahoma. She loved “her girls and guys “that cared for her.
